Charles Simeon
This session was not recorded.

Summary: Charles Simeon (1759-1836) lived in a time of great political unrest in Europe, including the American and French Revolutions. He demonstrated singleness of devotion to the Lord, and also remained single (unmarried) throughout his life, preaching for 54 years in Cambridge, England. Simeon faced significant opposition from his own congregation in the first dozen years of his ministry there, but persisted in preaching. During the 1800s, he had a leading role in sending missionaries to India (including Henry Martyn). Charles Simeon’s life was not characterised so much by any one great thing, but more by daily perseverance in God’s service.
